The Pharmacy Practice Club at "Amman Arab University": An Innovative Step to Enhance Students' Practical Skills
As part of its continuous efforts to develop students' skills and prepare them for the demands of the job market, and in line with the directives of the President of Amman Arab University, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Wadyan, the Faculty of Pharmacy launched the Pharmacy Practice Club. This innovative educational platform aims to prepare pharmacists capable of providing exceptional healthcare services, enhancing their role in the pharmaceutical community, and enabling them to face professional challenges and meet the demands of the pharmacy field.
The club provides an interactive environment that blends theoretical education with practical application, focusing on developing students' professional skills and enhancing their understanding of modern pharmaceutical practice. It organizes practical training sessions simulating real-life pharmacy situations to give students the necessary hands-on experience. In addition, the club works on developing communication skills and enabling students to interact effectively with patients and healthcare teams, which improves the quality of pharmaceutical services. The sessions also promote critical thinking and problem-solving through interactive discussions and case studies, helping students analyze theoretical information and apply it in real professional settings.
The club held weekly training sessions during the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year for eight consecutive weeks within the virtual pharmacy, with around 70 students participating. The sessions covered topics such as insulin injection techniques and storage, nitrate patches, sublingual tablets, nasal sprays, inhalers, pain relievers, and medications for gastrointestinal inflammation. These sessions saw great enthusiasm and interaction from the students.
Prof. Dr. Rana Abu Hweij, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, praised the efforts of those running the club, emphasizing the importance of continuing practical education that simulates the pharmaceutical reality, as it significantly enhances graduates' skills and boosts their competitiveness in the job market.
