The College of Information Technology at Amman Arab University (AAU) Achieves Second Place in the Live Hacking Competition at C8 2025

Under the directives of Prof. Dr. Mohamad Al-Widyan, President of Amman Arab University, to support students’ participation in international competitions, students from the Department of Cybersecurity at the College of Information Technology achieved a new milestone added to the university’s record of accomplishments. The university’s team, InnovAxis, secured second place in the Live Hacking Competition, held as part of the C8 2025 Conference on Progress, Innovation, and Technology in Cybersecurity. The event was organized by the National Cybersecurity Center, the Jordanian Design and Development Center (JODDB), and SOFEX Jordan at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Center – Dead Sea.

The team consisted of students: Amer Ghaith, Abdulrahman Al-Qaisi, and Mohammad Al-Ajarmeh, who delivered an outstanding performance throughout the various stages of the competition. These stages included hands-on cybersecurity challenges, offensive security tasks, and simulations that reflected real-world cyberattack scenarios. The team demonstrated exceptional technical skills and advanced through most stages of the competition before securing second place by a narrow margin, maintaining a high level of technical proficiency throughout the event.

The team’s preparation and training were supervised by Dr. Rami Sahwil, Dean of the College of Information Technology, and Dr. Kamal Alieyan, Assistant Dean, who provided intensive training programs and continuous technical support before and during the competition. A total of 13 Jordanian universities participated in the event, with Al-Zaytoonah University winning first place, followed by Amman Arab University in second place, and Zarqa University in third place.

Dr. Sahwil praised the distinguished performance of the students, emphasizing that this achievement reflects the college’s commitment to enhancing students’ practical skills and supporting their participation in specialized technical events. He added that the college continues to work on developing a learning environment that keeps pace with rapid advancements in cybersecurity by integrating practical training with academic content. This approach strengthens students’ readiness and enhances their ability to compete in technical arenas locally and regionally. Dr. Sahwil also expressed appreciation for the university administration’s ongoing support for student initiatives and practical activities.

Dr. Alieyan affirmed that this accomplishment highlights the excellence of the college’s academic programs and the high competency of its students. He noted that the Live Hacking Competition is one of the most prominent hands-on activities that provides students with an opportunity to test their skills in an environment that simulates real-world professional challenges.
