Dr. Ahmad Al-Husban, a faculty member of Aviation Sciences College, has recently spoke at a scientific seminar titled "Role of LEO Satellites in Combatting Desertification." The seminar, was held at Ajloun National University and supported by the Regional Center for Space Science and Technology Education for Western Asia under the United Nations. It aimed to explore the impact of space science and technology on sustainable development, with a focus on addressing desertification in Jordan. This participation aligns with the university’s mission to advance the sustainable development goals, particularly in environmental and sustainable energy fields. Dr. Al-Husban’s lecture covered the potential of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites in monitoring and combating desertification, presenting scientific and practical approaches to leverage space technology and artificial intelligence in environmental protection efforts.

The seminar included distinguished speakers from Jordanian universities, remote participants from Iraq, heads of environmental associations, and representatives from the Jordan Valley Authority and Greater Amman Municipality. Dr. Qais Al-Omari from the Regional Center for Space Science and Technology Education also contributed to the discussions.

Dr. Al-Hasban, an Assistant Professor in Air Navigation and Satellite Communications Engineering, holds a Ph.D. from Hungary and a Master’s degree from France in the same field. With numerous research publications, three books, and extensive experience in aviation systems analysis, he has contributed significantly to the fields of space technology and GNSS navigation. His work includes participation in local, regional, and international engineering conferences, and contributions to local electronic media outlets.
