College of Computer Sciences and Informatics at Amman Arab University Organizes the Second AAU-XDT 2024 Software Engineering Competition
College of Computer Sciences and Informatics at Amman Arab University organized the second annual software engineering competition AAU-XDT 2024 to design user experience interfaces for smart applications, in which students majoring in software engineering at the third and fourth year levels participated. The competition was launched in two stages. After registering for the competition, the participating students began the stage. The first was to design the prototype with a high accuracy level, High Fidelity Prototype, using several programs, including Adobe XD and Figma. It lasted for two weeks, and (20) teams qualified for the second phase, during which the designs were evaluated by a specialized committee that included: Dr. Ashraf Saleh and Dr. Sharaf Al-Zoubi from the Software Engineering Department at Amman Arab University, and Engineer Muhammad Al-Shuli, Head of the E-Government Department at the Queen Rania Al-Abdullah Center for Educational and Information Technology, where the first three places were won by:
First place: Student Sarah Abu Al-Khair.
Second place: Student Dalaa Saqr, Student Rasha Al-Saleh, and Student Sidra Osama.
Third place: student Yazan Barham, and student Basil Ayesh.
It is noteworthy that the competition was organized by the Department of Software Engineering at Amman Arab University with the aim of providing students with personal skills, knowledge, and applied skills in the field of specialization. Engineer Al-Shuli from the Queen Rania Center for Educational and Information Technology praised the students’ academic and professional level in the field of specialization.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Computer Sciences and Informatics at Amman Arab University, Dr. Husam Al-Hamad, praised the competition, its organization, and its importance to the students. He praised the students’ advanced level and their ability to design and program, congratulating the winners of the first three places and all students for their participation and completion of all stages of the competition, which is considered a win for all, stressing the importance of Students’ participation in extracurricular activities and events because of their major role in enhancing practical experiences, refining personal skills, and increasing opportunities to compete in the labor market.
At the end of the competition, in a ceremony attended by the Head of the Software Engineering Department and faculty members, the Dean of the College, Dr. Al-Hamad, honored the winning students and participants, and certificates and financial rewards were distributed to them. Al-Hamad also thanked those in charge of the competition and praised its outstanding level and organization, which is on par with international competitions.
It is noteworthy that the software engineering major at Amman Arab University includes more than 400 students, and the department, with its academic and administrative staff, works to implement everything that will raise the level of students and provide them with applied skills through many agreements and partnerships that have been signed with local and international institutions specialized in the field of software engineering with the aim of increasing their competition in the labor market and obtaining job opportunities commensurate with their qualifications.
