Training Workshop in “Cybercrime and Digital Evidence” at Amman Arab University
Deanship of Student Affairs/Office of Career Guidance and Graduate Follow-up at Amman Arab University, in cooperation with the College of Computer Sciences and Information at the University, organized a training workshop entitled “Cybercrimes and Digital Evidence,” directed at the students at the bachelor’s and master’s levels, graduates, and the local community, which was presented by Dr. Walaa Al-Omari, a faculty member at College of Computer Sciences and Informatics, where the workshop aimed to clarify the difference between traditional crime and cybercrime, in addition to identifying the elements of cybercrime and how to prevent and deal with it.
The significance of this workshop lies in the important topics it addresses in the science of cybersecurity, especially those related to the emergence and development of cybercrime and the importance of digital evidence and the mechanism for obtaining it, in addition to its role in introducing participants to how to extract data and information that assist law enforcement authorities and judicial institutions in performing its work in the manner required in digital investigations, or what is known as digital forensics, the workshop also addressed the definition of information technology tools and the possible dangerous or harmful uses that may result from them ,and to how to deal with techniques for confronting security threats and digital investigation mechanisms in smart devices, the workshop received great interaction from the participants by providing interactive examples that were presented to illustrate some issues related to electronic crimes and digital evidence.
It is noteworthy that the implementation of this workshop is regarded as one of the training courses and workshops implemented by the office in cooperation with the academic colleges at Amman Arab University within the student’s skills portfolio.
