Amman Arab University Introduces Bachelor of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and Master of Strategic Management
Amman - As part of the Amman Arab University's plan to develop distinguished and unique programs simulating the requirements of the local, regional and international labor market, the University obtained the approval of the Higher Education Council in its second session, which was held recently to create a B.A in data science and artificial intelligence at the College of Computer Science and Informatics, and M.A in strategic management in the College of Business, starting from the second semester of the academic year 2022-2023.
On this occasion, President of the University, Prof. Mohamed Al-Widyan, said that the University seeks within its strategic plan to build a promising generation that looks to the future. Based on the vision of the Hashemite leadership, through which His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein called for building a conscious generation aware of the importance of the stage in light of the growth and development and the need for specializations to keep pace with the local and regional market. These specializations have been developed to suit the actual labor market requirements, and the specialization of data science and artificial intelligence is one of the most important sciences required at the present time due to the continuous development in all fields Information technology, as it is considered one of the basic sciences needed by the information technology industries and the business world in the modern era in various fields and has a promising future in the local, regional and international labor market.
As for the major of strategic management, the effective practice of management has become one of the important reasons that distinguish leading institutions from affiliated institutions and distinguish successful stable institutions from other unstable institutions.
In this regard, the Dean of the College of Computer Sciences and Informatics, Dr. Hussam Al-Hamad, said that the specialization of data science and artificial intelligence will witness great and rapid growth and demand in the coming years due to the beginning of the new technical revolution and the transition from the concept of the Web 2 Web to the concept of the Web 3 which focuses basically on artificial intelligence techniques and data science, and pointed out that the creation of this specialization came to keep pace with global technological developments and meet the requirements of the labor market for qualified specialists locally and regionally. Dr. Al-Hamad emphasized that, based on the vision of the college, this program was designed to comply with international standards and focus on qualifying students for practical application, training them in the best specialized companies and institutions, and providing them with the necessary analytical and mathematical skills that will qualify them to work in multiple jobs in the field of data science and artificial intelligence in various companies, institutions and sectors of information technology, communication and business. Engineering, medicine, agriculture and more .Moreover, he stressed that the college is equipped with the best facilities and laboratories and has an artificial intelligence incubator established in cooperation with the Arab Society for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, which will have and specialized IT companies to train students and many other agreements.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Business, Prof. Dr. Hasan Al-Zoubi, said that this major is implemented as a result of the depth of global changes and events under which organizations operate in different classifications and the nature of their business, which is no longer suitable for traditional management systems and methods in analyzing changes and events and the ability to face future challenges and adapt to successive global changes, so the strategic management approach that focuses on studying and analyzing the future of organizations and the mechanisms of reaching the desired position has become a major entry point for managing organizations and their activities.
This development of the program is coping with the views of the members of the Advisory Board of the College of Business, who represent various business sectors, as well as the views of employers, all of which agreed that business organizations in the Jordanian environment lack specialists in the field of strategic management because this specialization prepares alumni who have the ability to conduct a strategic analysis of the work environment and draw up strategies to achieve sustainable competitive advantages that are reflected in the competitive superiority of those institutions, noting that this specialization as a master's program is the first of its kind in Jordan and the Arab region.
