Amman Arab University Participates in the Meetings of His Highness the Crown Prince with the Deans of Student Affairs
Amman - Within the meetings of HRH Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, with the deans of student affairs in Jordanian universities, and as a representative of Amman Arab University, Dr. Khaled Bani Hamdan, Dean of Student Affairs, participated in this meeting.
His Highness the Crown Prince stressed the role of universities in providing an incubating and enabling university environment for students to participate in political life, ensuring their right to practice partisan work without harming the educational process, and called for the importance of expanding awareness and cultural activities and developing students’ leadership skills through extracurricular activities and events .
During the meeting, Dr. Bani Hamdan pointed out that the huge total number of students in Jordanian universities and community colleges, which is estimated at about 450 thousand male and female students, and the increase in the percentage of females (56%) in it over the males (44%) requires careful work and intellectual preparation. It starts from the secondary stage in school, and organizes and combines efforts made by government agencies concerned with political, party and youth work in the government, such as the Ministry of Political Development, the Ministry of Youth and the Independent Election Commission, in addition to the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Dr. Bani Hamdan focused on the importance of working hard to approve legislation regulating political and partisan work in universities, so that the deanships of student affairs can ably play their role in promoting the values of loyalty and belonging to the homeland and the citizen among students by raising their level of cultural and political awareness, and thus their ability to understand the political and partisan reality that it will enhance the chances of their participation in the process of sustainable economic, social and cultural development of the country.
