A Delegation from Amman Arab University Visits the Royal Botanic Garden

Amman - A delegation from Amman Arab University visited the Royal Botanic Garden to discuss ways of cooperation with the garden in the field of scientific research and the implementation of many joint activities.  The Director General of the Park, Eng. Muhammad Shahbaz, on behalf of HRH Princess Basma Bint Ali, received the delegation, which was headed by Prof. Mohamad Al-Widyan, and in the presence of the Assistant President of the University for Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Hossam Al-Hamad, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Khaled Bani Hamdan, Dr. Mutee Al-Shibli from the College of Business, and Mr. Anas Kasu from the Department of Media and Public Relations.

During the visit, the delegation toured the botanical garden to get acquainted with the most important parts of the garden and to see the projects that will be implemented during the coming period, which mainly work on documenting the genetic imprint of plants.  Eng. Shahbaz reviewed the stages of establishing the park and its goals in preserving rare plants in Jordan, as well as protecting biodiversity and activating the field of environmental awareness in the country, in addition to the park's achievements in the field of registering the Jordanian plant as an official document registered in the relevant international forums.

Prof. Al-Widyan expressed his happiness for this visit and for the size of the achievement in the garden, and presented the university's vision and mission and the role of the university in sustainable development, indicating that Amman Arab University took upon itself to carry this responsibility towards the local community and to play this pioneering role with all its capabilities.

It was discussed to make a cooperation agreement that serves both parties in the work of joint projects and the transfer of the expertise of faculty members in all fields to serve this garden, as well as in the field of setting up environmental camps for university students.
