President of "Amman Arabi University" Meets a Delegation from the Local Community
Amman - President of Amman Arab University, Prof. Mohamad Al-Widyan, met with a delegation from the local community, including a delegation of dignitaries from the Ain Al-Basha region, headed by Deputy Dr. Ahmad Al-Sarrahna, and Sheikh Osama Al-Warikat Al-Adwan, member of the Council of the decentralized Balqa Governorate, in the presence of the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Khaled Bani Hamdan.
Prof. Al-Widyan, President of the University, presented the University’s progress since its inception to its progress in all academic and scientific fields. He said: Amman Arab University was established in 1999 under the name (Amman Arab University for Graduate Studies) and it was based in Amman, and the university has graduated administrative political, academic and parliamentary leaders. In 2009, the University’s name was changed to (Amman Arab University), where it began offering bachelor’s degree programs in its field. In 2014, the University was moved to its current location in the Mobus area, and there are now (9) faculties in the University: (College of Educational and Psychological Sciences ,College of Business, College of Law, College of Computer Sciences and Informatics, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Engineering, College of Sharia, College of Pharmacy, College of Aviation Sciences .Unique specializations have been created in line with the requirements of the labor market recently, specializing in a Bachelor of Aviation Electronics Science and a Master of Applied Linguistics.
Prof. Al-Widyan indicated that the University launched the Student Skills Portfolio, which is a unique initiative at the level of Jordanian higher education, which is keen to qualify University students academically and professionally and increase their opportunities to compete in the labor market.
He referred to the initiatives and activities implemented by the University with various community institutions in the area surrounding the university, stressing the University's vision in building bridges with the local community on a sustainable basis and its willingness to move forward in implementing initiatives that benefit both sides.
In turn, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al-Sarrahna valued the important academic role of Amman Arab University in education, development and community service, promoting youth participation in launching cultural initiatives, providing partial educational grants to local community members, organizing charitable bazaars in support of poor families, as well as supporting activities targeting young people and activating their participation in public service.
