Embodying national pride and honoring Hashemite achievements, in a solemn atmosphere filled with a spirit of belonging and under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Salha bint Asem—may God protect her—Amman Arab University held a grand celebration marking the 79th Independence Day of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Communities Day. The event was organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs and attended by Dr. Omar Mashhour Al-Jazy, Chairman of the University's Board of Trustees, Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Widyan, President of Amman Arab University, a number of dignitaries, representatives of diplomatic missions in Jordan, assistant presidents, college deans, directors of administrative units, faculty and staff members, and a large gathering of university students.

In his opening speech, Dr. Al-Jazy expressed his deep pride in this cherished national occasion and extended greetings and gratitude to HRH Princess Salha bint Asem for her gracious patronage of the celebration. He affirmed that Her Highness's presence adds a national dimension and great honor to this academic institution. He noted that on this glorious day in 1946, the Legislative Council declared the independence of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the late founding King Abdullah I bin Al-Hussein—may he rest in peace—was proclaimed King of Jordan, marking the beginning of a journey of glory and dignity carried forward by the Hashemites through generations, up to the reign of the esteemed leader, His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein—may Allah protect him—who continues steadfastly building a modern state based on justice, dignity, and the rule of law.

Al-Jazy emphasized that this occasion is not merely a commemoration but a reflection of the struggles of Jordanians over the decades and a shining image of achievements under the wise Hashemite leadership. He affirmed that despite challenges, Jordan has solidified its regional and international standing while upholding its steadfast principles, foremost among them the Palestinian cause and the Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem’s holy sites. He stressed that as Amman Arab University celebrates Independence Day and Communities Day, it renews its pledge to the leadership and the nation to strive and contribute, reaffirming its role in instilling values of belonging and cultural diversity among its students. This diversity, he noted, reflects the essence of Jordan’s message in a university dedicated to leadership and excellence.

For his part, Dr. Al-Widyan affirmed that Amman Arab University’s celebration of this cherished national occasion embodies the values of belonging and loyalty held by the people of this beloved nation. Independence is not a fleeting event but a radiant milestone in Jordan’s history, where we recall the sacrifices of our forefathers and renew our pledge to the Hashemite leadership that Amman Arab University remains a beacon of knowledge, an oasis of thought, dialogue, and cultural openness.

He noted that as the university celebrates Communities Day, it takes pride in the cultural diversity of its students from brotherly and friendly nations, enriching the university education environment and academic experience while embodying the university’s mission to promote pluralism, openness, and Jordan’s role as a warm embrace for all Arabs.

At the end of the ceremony, the university honored HRH Princess Salha bint Asem in appreciation of her gracious patronage. The celebration included poetic recitations, a performance by the university choir, and the opening of a photo exhibition showcasing the meanings, symbols, and history of the immortal Battle of Karama and the bravery and sacrifices of the Arab Army in this battle, in cooperation with the Moral Guidance Directorate. The event also featured a Communities Exhibition, where participating countries displayed their folk heritage and cultural history, in addition to a performance by the Jordan Armed Forces Band and two artistic performances by the Greater Amman Municipality Troupe and the Ramtha Folk Arts Troupe.
