
Professor Omar Hatamleh at Amman Arab University (AAU): Artificial Intelligence is the Gateway to the Future
Amman Arab University hosted Professor Omar Hatamleh, a global thought leader in Artificial Intelligence and a principal AI and Innovation advisor at NASA, for a specialized lecture titled "Artificial Intelligence and Shaping the Future." The event was attended by the British Ambassador to Jordan, Mr. Philip Hall, the Chairman of the University's Board of Trustees, Dr. Omar Mashhour Al-Jazy, University President Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Widyan, along with vice presidents, deans, faculty, staff, and students.
Professor Hatamleh highlighted the pivotal role of AI in reshaping various sectors, innovation, decision-making, and the job market. He stressed that AI is no longer a technical luxury but a strategic tool for building the future, requiring institutional and human readiness based on specialized knowledge, analytical thinking, and advanced digital skills. He called for investing in preparing young talents and linking educational outcomes with the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
In response, Dr. Al-Jazy noted that hosting such global experts aligns with the university's vision to keep pace with rapid technological developments. Dr. Al-Widyan outlined the university's steps towards digital transformation, including forming a digital transformation committee and strategically updating curricula to introduce AI as a university requirement across disciplines.
The lecture featured an interactive Q&A session where students demonstrated keen awareness of AI advancements, inquiring about the future job market and essential digital skills. Professor Hatamleh emphasized the importance of curiosity, scientific research, and investing in youth as the true drivers for shaping the future.
