
Information Technology at Amman Arab University (AAU) shines for the second time, winning third place among Jordanian universities in the SHEHacks V2 2025 competition
As part of Amman Arab University’s efforts to instill leadership and excellence in its students, the College of Information Technology at the university achieved a distinguished accomplishment by winning third place in the SHEHacks V2 2025 competition. The event was held as part of the SME X AI conference, organized by Green Circle Company, and is considered one of the most prominent cybersecurity competitions in the Kingdom.
The achievement was earned by the team HexaDivas, composed of students Roa’a Washah, Manar Jamel Alass, Tayf Al-Helo, Yasmin Qaraqesh, and Jood Abuhamada from the Cybersecurity Department at the College of Information Technology. The team demonstrated outstanding performance, earning third place after intense competition with more than 80 teams from universities across Jordan.
The team’s success was guided and supported by Dr. Kamal Alieyan, Assistant Dean at the College of Information Technology, alongside encouragement and mentorship from Dr. Saeed Al-Tahat, Head of the Cybersecurity Department, and faculty members Dr. Walaa Al-Omari and Dr. Bilal Khater. This reflects Amman Arab University’s commitment to fostering student creativity and empowering female students in technology and cybersecurity fields.
Amman Arab University’s participation reached the final stage of the competition, where 13 teams from 10 Jordanian universities qualified after passing multiple competitive rounds featuring advanced technical presentations. This accomplishment builds upon the College’s previous successes in the competition, where its students previously secured first and second place, demonstrating continuous improvement in student performance and their ability to compete in advanced technological arenas.
The SHEHacks competition was characterized by an atmosphere of enthusiasm and innovation, where the qualified teams presented strong, innovative solutions with a tangible impact on the cybersecurity sector. Reaching the final stage itself is a testament to the high level of Jordanian students’ capabilities, while the victory of HexaDivas reinforces Amman Arab University’s position among leading institutions in this field.
On this occasion, Dr. Rami Sihwail, Dean of the College of Information Technology at Amman Arab University, praised the students’ high level of achievement, emphasizing that this success reflects the College’s approach to developing practical skills and encouraging students to engage in specialized technological events. He also highlighted the College’s commitment to continuously advancing a modern learning environment that keeps pace with rapid developments in cybersecurity by integrating practical applications with academic content, thus enhancing students’ readiness for local and regional competition. Dr. Sihwail also expressed gratitude for the ongoing support provided by the University administration to student initiatives and practical activities, considering it a key factor in strengthening their capabilities and honing their practical expertise.
