First in the Arab World: "Aviation Sciences" at Amman Arab University (AAU) Obtains International AABI Accreditation for Five Years
In line with Amman Arab University's drive towards international accreditation, the Bachelor's program in Aircraft Maintenance within the Faculty of Aviation Sciences has successfully met all requirements for American accreditation issued by the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI). The program received full accreditation for a period of five years.
On this occasion, Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Widyan, President of the University, stated that accrediting the Bachelor's program in Aircraft Maintenance by the international aviation board represents a significant, pioneering achievement for the Faculty and the University. He emphasized that the University is the first in the Arab world and the eighth globally to obtain this American international accreditation. Dr. Al-Widyan added that the Aircraft Maintenance program is the first of its kind in the Kingdom and the Arab region, with teaching commencing in the academic year 2017/2018. He noted that the Faculty had previously obtained European accreditation (EASA).
For his part, Dr. Malik Al-Salem Al-Anaqreh, Dean of the Faculty of Aviation Sciences at Amman Arab University, explained that the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) was established in 1988 through an initiative by one hundred colleges and universities offering various aviation programs. All recognized the need to establish global standards to improve their program outcomes and facilitate peer comparisons, positioning the Board as an official accreditation body for all aviation disciplines worldwide. This accreditation now constitutes a system for recognizing educational institutions and their professional programs that achieve and maintain a level of performance, integrity, and quality deserving the confidence of the educational community and the industry they serve.
In this regard, Dr. Al-Anaqreh extended his gratitude to Dr. Anwar Al-Asaf, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, for his valuable guidance and efforts during his deanship of the Faculty of Aviation Sciences. He also thanked all faculty members who contributed to preparing the self-evaluation report, conducting interviews, and fulfilling all necessary requirements and responses, specifically highlighting the concerted efforts of the Dean of Student Affairs, the Director of the Admissions and Registration Department, and the Director of the Financial Affairs Department.
This achievement realizes Amman Arab University's motto of leadership and excellence, making it the first Jordanian and Arab university to obtain this accreditation in the region and the Arab world for the field of aircraft maintenance.
