In a new academic achievement that is added to the distinguished record of Amman Arab University in scientific excellence, and within its continuous efforts to strengthen its presence in international rankings and to consolidate its position in the field of high-quality scientific research, Dr Mohammad Fawaier, a member of the teaching staff in the Faculty of Aviation Sciences / Aircraft Maintenance Department, has been selected as editor of a special issue in the international scientific journal Drones, issued by the global publishing house MDPI and classified within the first quartile (Q1), entitled: “Skybound Surveillance: Enhancing Road Network Efficiency with Drone Inspections”.

This selection comes as a result of the academically stimulating environment that promotes leadership and scientific excellence which is adopted by Amman Arab University, and with the continuous support and guidance of the University President, Professor Mohammed Al-Widyan. This reflects the high scientific competence of the teaching staff members and the solid research experience they possess at the regional and international levels. The special issue is based on an advanced research theme that addresses the use of drone inspection technologies in enhancing the efficiency of road networks and in developing smart monitoring applications for infrastructure and the transport sector, in line with the accelerating global trends towards adopting innovative engineering solutions in the management of assets and vital services. At the same time, it contributes to strengthening the research presence of the University within this specialised field. This achievement reflects the keenness of the Faculty of Aviation Sciences at Amman Arab University to raise the quality of applied scientific research provided by the teaching staff members, under the supervision and guidance of the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Dr. Malek Ali Al-Salem Al-Anaqreh. It also confirms the pivotal role of the engagement of the teaching staff members in advanced international scientific duties, in particular editorial work and peer-review roles in refereed journals, due to their direct effect on the enhancement of the quality of academic outputs and on strengthening the reputation of the Faculty and the University at the regional and international levels.

It is mentioned that the journal Drones is one of the international peer-reviewed scientific journals classified within the first quartile (Q1), and has an Impact Factor of 4.8 according to Journal Citation Reports, in addition to a CiteScore of 7.4 in the Scopus database. It is also indexed in Web of Science (SCIE) and Scopus, and adopts an open-access publishing model. It is also indicated that Dr Mohammad Fawaier holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Jordan, and a Master’s degree and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He has a number of peer-reviewed scientific papers published in reputable international journals, in addition to his continuous participation in scientific reviewing work for a number of journals and scientific periodicals.
