Dr. Banat from the College of Educational Sciences at "Amman Arab" (AAU) Participates in the Fifth International Conference on "Renouncing Violence, Extremism, and Terrorism" in Vienna
Driven by the commitment of the Faculty of Educational and Psychological Sciences at Amman Arab University to enhance its presence in scientific, research, and international forums, Professor Dr. Suhaila Banat, a faculty member in the College, participated in the fifth international conference titled: "Renouncing Violence, Extremism, and Terrorism in its Religious, Political, Social, and Educational Dimensions: A Call for Human Security". The conference was held in Vienna, Austria, from November 3-6, 2025.
During the conference, Dr. Banat presented a research paper titled: "Workplace Violence and its Relationship with Self-Compassion among Working Women in Jordan," with the participation of Dr. Suha Tahal, a researcher from the Faculty of Educational and Psychological Sciences at Amman Arab University. The research paper addressed the phenomenon of violence against women in the work environment. The study application included institutions from the local community in the capital, Amman, targeting working women. Two scales were developed within the study: one to measure violence in the work environment and the other to measure self-compassion. The results of the study indicated that the level of workplace violence was moderate, and the level of self-compassion among the participants was also moderate. Dr. Banat explained that the results indicated a negative relationship between workplace violence and self-compassion, meaning that as workplace violence increases, the level of self-compassion among working women decreases, and vice versa.
This participation aligns with the policy of Amman Arab University aimed at supporting scientific research and promoting the dissemination of knowledge among local and international institutions, thereby contributing to community service and solidifying the University's standing on the global academic stage.
