College of Pharmacy at "Amman Arab" (AAU) Participates in the 24th International Qualitative Conference for Pharmacovigilance (ISoP 2025) in Cairo

In line with Amman Arab University's continuous pursuit of academic excellence and enhancing its presence on the international scientific stage, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University participated in the 24th Annual Conference of the International Society of Pharmacovigilance (ISoP 2025), held in the Arab Republic of Egypt / Cairo, under the slogan "Pharmacovigilance: Back to the Future." The University was represented at the conference proceedings by Professor Dr. Rana Abu Huwaij, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Dr. Lubna Al-Gharaybeh, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University.

During the conference, Dr. Abu Huwaij presented two research papers discussing effective strategies to enhance the safety of medications used in treating lung cancer, with a focus on reducing the toxicity of Cisplatin, in addition to highlighting the safety aspects of some herbal substances from a pharmacovigilance perspective. Dr. Al-Gharaybeh participated in the conference to enhance networking and build bridges of cooperation with pharmacovigilance officials in neighboring countries, as part of efforts aimed at developing the field of drug monitoring and ensuring their safety.

During her participation, Dr. Abu Huwaij emphasized the pioneering role of Amman Arab University in supporting scientific research and innovation, noting that a number of distinguished scientific research papers submitted by students of the Master's program in Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affairs at the Faculty of Pharmacy were accepted for participation in the scientific conference proceedings. This included the students Amenah Abu Qamar and Wafa' Al-Rawashdeh, who presented two research papers reflecting the outstanding scientific level of the University's students and their research efforts in developing the pharmaceutical sector and patient safety. Dr. Abu Huwaij clarified that the submitted research papers were published in the international journal Drug Safety, indexed in the Springer Scopus database under Q1 category.

Dr. Abu Huwaij indicated that international cooperation and the exchange of expertise represent a fundamental pillar in developing the Master's program in Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affairs, which Amman Arab University uniquely offers, in alignment with global regulatory standards and policies, contributing to enhancing drug safety at the national and international levels. She added that Amman Arab University takes pride in this prestigious participation, which embodies its commitment to its academic mission of supporting the national health system, advancing pharmaceutical education, promoting scientific research, and solidifying its position as a leading academic institution in the field of pharmacovigilance and regulatory affairs at both the local and international levels.

It is noteworthy that the ISoP conference is one of the most prominent and important global events specialized in drug and patient safety, with participation from over 450 experts and specialists from more than 70 countries, including representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO), the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the Uppsala Monitoring Centre in Sweden, the Jordan Food and Drug Administration, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, along with a number of global pharmaceutical companies and other international bodies and organizations.
