Amman Arab University (AAU) Participates in "Cybersecurity: Challenges in the Digital Age" Seminar at Yarmouk University

Affirming its pioneering role in community service and promoting cybersecurity awareness, the College of Information Technology at Amman Arab University, represented by Dr. Manar Mazhar, Head of the Cybersecurity Department, participated in a specialized seminar titled "Cybersecurity: Challenges in the Digital Age". The event was organized by the Faculty of Educational Sciences at Yarmouk University.

During the virtual seminar, Dr. Mazhar delivered a scientific lecture covering the definition, domains, and challenges of cybersecurity amid rapid technological advancements that have intensified cyber threats. She emphasized the importance of comprehensive understanding in this field, its relationship with information security, and the application of appropriate protective tools against various cyberattacks. Dr. Mazhar also reviewed global and Jordanian cybercrimes and their regulatory legal framework, clarifying applicable laws and procedures to follow when encountering cybercrimes to enhance cyber-legal awareness.

Her presentation focused on preventive measures for safeguarding personal and financial data, such as enabling two-factor authentication, updating systems, and using protection software, alongside the significance of continuous user education. Additionally, she addressed the critical role of conscious parental supervision to ensure safe technology use within families and protect children interacting with modern cyber devices and platforms.

Dr. Rami Sehwal, Dean of the College of Information Technology at Amman Arab University, commended the college’s participation in the seminar. He reiterated the university’s commitment to supporting national initiatives aimed at spreading cybersecurity culture as a cornerstone for ensuring a secure digital society, praising the scientific collaboration among Jordanian universities to strengthen integrated responses to cyber challenges.
