
Amman Arab University (AAU) Organizes Open Awareness Day in Cooperation with Public Security Directorate and Community Police
Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Widyan, President of Amman Arab University, and under the supervision of the University's Deanship of Student Affairs, and stemming from the University's pioneering role in spreading awareness and enhancing community security among its students, Amman Arab University organized the Open Awareness Day. This initiative was launched by the Public Security Directorate (PSD) in Jordanian universities, in cooperation with the Community Police / Ain Al-Basha District.
In this context, Dr. Mohammad Bin Tarif, Dean of Student Affairs, emphasized the importance of this day in entrenching the concept of community peace and raising awareness about the dangers of university violence and the scourge of drugs. He indicated that the University is keen on providing a safe and integrated environment that enhances student awareness and instills in them the values of tolerance, belonging, and responsibility. He added that Amman Arab University, in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate and the Community Police, will continue to organize such events that seek to promote security culture and prevent negative behaviors, affirming that youth awareness is the first line of defense in protecting society from various challenges.
The Awareness Day included a set of important security and awareness themes presented by a select group of officers from the Public Security Directorate. These focused on issues relevant to the reality of students and society, contributing to raising their level of awareness and responsibility. In the first theme, Major Qasim Rbeihat addressed the registration of criminal records, explaining their concept, types, and the mechanisms for dealing with them. He clarified their direct impact on individuals' futures and their professional and social opportunities, urging students to adhere to laws and avoid behaviors that might negatively affect their career paths. Regarding the second theme on community peace and combating extremist thought and university violence, Captain Saddam Al-Abadi spoke about the importance of promoting a culture of dialogue and tolerance within the university campus. He stressed that community peace is a pillar of national cohesion and the foundation of progress, and that violence does not build societies but rather destroys them. In turn, Captain Zaid Al-Abdallat tackled the third theme on cybercrimes, shedding light on their most prominent forms and the dangers of unsafe use of social media platforms. He emphasized the importance of digital awareness and electronic responsibility in light of rapid technological development. The themes concluded with the fourth one, presented by Lieutenant Khalid Al-Mahsiri, which focused on the scourge of drugs. He described them as the "silent danger that robs minds and destroys youth potential," explaining modern methods of their promotion and ways of prevention. He confirmed that awareness and knowledge constitute the strongest weapon to confront them and protect society from their devastating effects.
Also participating in the Awareness Day events were Major Mohammad Al-Qar'an, Head of the Community Police Section in the Central Region, Captain Abdullah Al-Kharabsheh, Head of the Community Police Branch in Balqa Governorate, and Captain Hanadi Kloub, the representative of the Public Security Radio. They all emphasized the importance of the partnership between universities and the Public Security Directorate in enhancing intellectual and community security among youth.
At the conclusion of the event, Amman Arab University and the Deanship of Student Affairs affirmed the continuation of cooperation with the Public Security Directorate and the Community Police in implementing awareness programs and seminars that contribute to building conscious, balanced, and effective students who actively participate in serving their country and society.
