Amman Arab University (AAU) Launches "Silk of Hope" Humanitarian Initiative to Support Children with Cancer

Within its community responsibility and commitment to enhancing partnerships with civil society institutions, Amman Arab University launched a humanitarian initiative titled "Silk of Hope." Organized by the Faculty of Business in collaboration with the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Silk Foundation, the initiative saw active participation from students, faculty, and administrative staff.

The launch event, held on campus with broad student engagement, was attended by Dr. Ahoud Al-Khasawneh, Dean of the Faculty of Business; Dr. Mohammed Bin Tarif, Dean of Student Affairs; and Ms. Ghader Ja'arah, representative of the Silk Foundation.

During the opening, Dr. Al-Khasawneh and Dr. Bin Tarif emphasized the importance of such initiatives in motivating students towards volunteer work and fostering community belonging and participation. They highlighted Amman Arab University's vital role in supporting humanitarian causes through collaboration with civil society institutions.

Dr. Al-Khasawneh noted that the initiative was launched with direct support from University President Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Widyan, who believes in the importance and sustainability of community initiatives as fundamental to the university's mission of serving society and promoting volunteerism among students. She indicated that the initiative involved significant participation from female students, resulting in the collection of 40 locks of natural hair. These will be used to manufacture wigs provided free of charge to children with cancer through the Silk Foundation.

Ms. Ja'arah expressed appreciation for this cooperation, commending Amman Arab University's efforts and ongoing support for humanitarian initiatives, which have a significant psychological and moral impact on the young patients.
