Amman Arab University has achieved a significant milestone by ranking among the top 500 universities worldwide in the 2025 GreenMetric ranking, securing 422nd place globally and 7th place among Jordanian universities.

University President Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Widyan highlighted the university's role in meeting various ranking criteria, including sustainability. He noted that the university hosts the Arab Council for Sustainable Development, established by the Association of Arab Universities in 2021, and is a member of the Regional Network for Social Responsibility. This achievement reflects the university's commitment to implementing best environmental practices and promoting a culture of sustainability on campus, in line with its strategic vision.

Dr. Al-Widyan credited this success to the joint efforts of the academic and administrative staff and the continuous development of environmental policies and initiatives. The university is currently implementing several quality projects to enhance environmental sustainability, such as expanding green spaces, developing infrastructure, protecting the environment, and promoting clean energy. It also encourages faculty and students to engage more deeply in achieving sustainable development goals through education and research.

The GreenMetric ranking evaluates universities' performance in green and sustainable environments based on six main criteria: Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste Management, Water Management, Sustainable Transportation, and Education and Research.
