Al-Baqoura and Al-Ghamr Chess Championship at Amman Arab University

 Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamad Al-Widyan, President of Amman Arab University, Ministry of Youth - Directorate of Youth Communication, in cooperation with Amman Arab University, organized the second Al-Baqoura and Al-Ghamr Chess Championship for University students, with the participation of 120 male and female students representing 20 universities in the Kingdom at the campus.

 Prof. Al-Widyan welcomed all participants in the tournament from all official and private Jordanian universities, and thanked the Ministry of Youth for cooperating in organizing such tournaments, which aim to improve the students’ personality and spread sports culture and sports awareness, as well as the positive practice of the basic social aspects of competition and cooperation.

 The Director of the Directorate of Youth Communication, Dr. Muhammad Al-Jaafra, praised the University’s efforts in hosting the tournament, noting that the ministry seeks to hold extracurricular programs and activities for University students based on its vision and national responsibility, which requires it to provide young men and women with a set of programs and activities, and that organizing this tournament comes within the framework of  the Ministry’s keenness to communicate all its programs and activities to all young men and women, in addition to activating participation and maintaining continuous contact with Jordanian university students, and strengthening relations with all parties and sectors in order to embody the principle of partnership.

 At the end of the tournament, Dr. Khaled Bani Hamdan, Dean of Student Affairs, distributed the prizes to the winners of the first three places, on behalf of the tournament sponsor, President of the University.

 Princess Sumaya University won first place in the tournament, Al-Balqa Applied University ranked second, University of Science and Technology ranked third, and Amman Arab University won fourth place (repeated).
