“Ask your Pharmacist 3” Initiative: Continuing Excellence in Promoting Pharmaceutical Awareness at Amman Arab University (AAU)

The Field Training Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University, in collaboration with pharmacy students, organized an awareness initiative titled “Ask a Pharmacist 3.” The initiative was supervised by Dr. Mai Al-Hawamdeh, Chair of the Committee, with the participation of committee members, a distinguished group of pharmacy students, and several faculty members. This initiative builds on the success of the previous two editions and stems from the Faculty’s commitment to promoting a culture of proper pharmaceutical consultation on campus and strengthening the pharmacist’s educational role in serving the community.

The initiative aimed to enhance health and medication awareness among students and staff at Amman Arab University by providing direct pharmaceutical consultations and answering various questions related to the safe and effective use of medications. It also focused on reinforcing concepts such as medication adherence, highlighting potential drug interactions and side effects, and explaining proper medication storage practices. In addition, it provided education on dietary supplements and their effects, while emphasizing the importance of consulting a pharmacist before using any medicinal product. The initiative achieved a tangible impact and wide engagement, benefiting more than 120 students and staff members, with active participation from 20 pharmacy students who contributed to delivering consultations and addressing diverse pharmaceutical inquiries. This strong engagement reflects the high level of trust in the pharmacist’s role as a reliable source of health information and confirms the initiative’s success in promoting pharmaceutical awareness and rational, safe medication use.

This initiative aligns with the vision of Amman Arab University and the Faculty of Pharmacy to empower students to practice their professional roles within a practical learning environment. It also contributes to developing their skills and enhancing their readiness for the job market, in addition to strengthening communication skills, teamwork, and professional responsibility among participating students. The initiative reaffirms that the pharmacist is a key partner in the healthcare system, whose role extends beyond dispensing medications to include health education.
