The Faculty of Aviation Sciences at Amman Arab University (AAU) organized a specialized workshop titled: “How Space Technology Serves Civil Aviation”
Within the framework of Amman Arab University’s keenness to keep pace with scientific and technological developments and to enhance the knowledge of its students in modern fields related to the aviation sector, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Malek Al-Salem Al-Anaqra, Dean of the Faculty of Aviation Sciences, the faculty organized a training workshop titled: “How Space Technology Serves Civil Aviation.” The workshop was delivered by Dr. Qais Al-Omari from the Regional Center for Space Science and Technology Education, in the presence of Dr. Ahmad Al-Hasban, Head of the Aircraft Maintenance Department, along with a number of faculty members and students from various specializations.
The workshop addressed the key applications of space technology in supporting and advancing civil aviation operations. Dr. Al-Omari highlighted the role of satellites, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), and remote sensing technologies in enhancing the efficiency of air traffic management, improving safety levels, and increasing the accuracy of tracking and air surveillance systems.
He also noted the contribution of these technologies to improving flight route planning and reducing fuel consumption and emissions, thereby supporting sustainability in the aviation sector.
He emphasized the importance of integrating space technology with the aviation sector to develop air service systems and keep pace with rapid digital transformations, particularly with the growing shift toward automation and the use of big data in decision-making.
The workshop witnessed strong engagement from students, who raised insightful questions and inquiries reflecting their increasing awareness of the importance of this field and their interest in exploring the potential applications of space technology in civil aviation, as well as learning about future career opportunities related to this vital and evolving sector.
This workshop comes as part of the ongoing efforts of the Faculty of Aviation Sciences at Amman Arab University to organize scientific and practical activities that contribute to linking theoretical knowledge with practical application, and to prepare qualified students capable of keeping pace with developments in the civil aviation sector.
