The college of Computer Sciences and Informatics at Amman Arab University
The college of Computer Sciences and Informatics at Amman Arab University achieved third place in the 2024 National Sumo Robot Championship which held at Al-Hussein Technical University. Competing with teams from Jordanian public and private universities, the university team, supervised by Engineer Yacoub Al-Qara'in, includes Data Science and students Zaid Ezzeldine, Rima Aqel, and Bisan Esmairan.
Dr. Hussam Al-Hamad, Dean of the Faculty, expressed pride in the students' success and thanked the university, particularly Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Widyan, for his support. This support includes accessing to advanced equipment and enabling the team to design a high-performing robot. Dr. Al-Hamad emphasized that such competitions are crucial for developing students' skills, teamwork, and creativity contributing to both academic and future professional success.
Dr. Gaith Jaradat, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems, noted that participating in these events allows students to apply their academic knowledge in practical settings.
The championship took place in Amman’s King Hussein Business Park, with over 100 teams competing under the evaluation of a national committee of robotics experts. The opening ceremony was attended by various university leaders and faculty.
