The Secretary-General of the Arab Universities Union Sponsors the Opening of the Second International Conference of the Arab Council for Sustainable Development at Amman Arab University
The Secretary-General of the Arab Universities Union, Professor Amr Ezzat Salama, sponsored the opening of the Second International Conference of the Arab Council for Sustainable Development at Amman Arab University. The conference, titled "The Role of National Institutions in Addressing Environmental Risks – Reality and Solutions," brought together key figures from various sectors, including academics, government, and business. In his speech, Dr. Salama highlighted the urgent environmental challenges humanity faces, such as climate change, pollution, and resource depletion, emphasizing the crucial role of universities In addressing these issues through research, education, and innovation. He also stressed the importance of integrating sustainability practices across the Arab world and fostering public-private sector collaborations. Dr. Mohammad Al-Widyan, the president of Amman Arab University, noted the region's vulnerability to environmental changes, particularly climate change, and underscored the need for enhanced research and action to address these challenges. The conference received 125 research papers from 16 countries, with 108 accepted after rigorous peer review. These papers will be published in the Scopus database, and a final statement with key recommendations will be issued for practical application.
