Prof. Mohammed Al-Widyan, President of Amman Arab University, holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering (ME/thermal) in addition to MS and Ph.D. degrees from the USA in Thermal and Energy Engineering. Since 10/2020, Prof. Al-Widyan has been serving as the President of Amman Arab University, AAU, Jordan. Before that, he served as a professor in ME (JUST) and taught courses in the Renewable Energy and Sustainability Master’s Program and served as a supervisor for several grad students in the same program. He also has more than 45 published articles in international journals, and several book chapters, in addition to two translated books, one of which won the national Philadelphia award for the best-translated book for 2014. Prof. Al-Widyan has been actively engaged in research grants and projects, as well as in participating in the activities of several TEMPUS/Erasmus+ projects.
Prof. Al-Widyan assumed various admin positions including being currently the President of the AAU besides serving as Dean of Research, as well as the Director of the Academic Development and QA center at JUST, and has been over the last several years heavily involved in academic quality- and accreditation-related activities nationally and regionally. He is currently serving on the Board of Trustees and Advisory Boards in several Jordanian institutions. Dr. Al-Widyan was pivotal to the establishment of the College of Engineering at King Faisal University, Saudi between 209 and 2014. He was recognized with several national and international awards.
Prof. Fahmi Abu Al-Rub, Advisor of the President, was a Member of Trustees at the German Jordan University. He is the Director of the Applied Scientific Research Fund (ASRF); an NGO non-profit organization that aims at promoting the innovation and entrepreneurial culture among young researchers. He was the Chairman of the Board of Center for E-Learning and Open Educational Resources at JUST (2018-2020). He was the Dean of Research at JUST during 2009-2013. He was a Member Board of Trustees at Philadelphia University (2009-2013).
Prof. Abu Al-Rub received in 2016, the King Abdullah the Second Award in Innovation, Abdel-Hameed Shoman Award for Young Arab Researchers 2001: Engineering Sciences (July 2003); and the Excellence Award in Teaching/College of Engineering, 2004, UAEU. Engineering Sciences (July 2003).
Abu Al-Rub is on the board of the COST Programme: European Network to connect research and innovation efforts on advanced Smart Textiles (CONTEXT) CA17107. He is/was a partner in more than 40 EU, FAO, and US projects with a budget exceeding 50.0 M€; Twenty-one ERASMU+ Projects, Four TEMPUS Projects, three ENI projects, two ENPI projects, Two ERANETMED projects, one FAO project, three USAID projects, one PRIMA project, two ERANET MED projects, one Steven’s Initiative project, and one NSF project. He was also a monitoring manager for two ENPI projects with a budget exceeding 4.0 M€. He was a member of the steering committee on the UNDP project: Developing Policy-Relevant Capacity for Implementation of the Global Environmental Conventions in Jordan/Jordan Ministry of Environment.
Dr. Ashraf Saleh is an Assistant Professor in the Software Engineering Department at AAU. Dr. Saleh will be the coordinator of the HECars Project website.
