Development of Vocational Diploma in Hybrid and Electrical Cars for Disadvantage People: Syrian Refugees and Underprivileged Jordanians (HECars) is a one-year funded project by Nuffic for the EDUSYRIA project funded by the European Union.
While efforts have been made to help Syrian refugees, they still face significant challenges in accessing education and training, which hampers their ability to participate in the labor market. Other Underprivileged Jordanian people face similar challenges. Providing beneficiaries with practical and entrepreneurial skills through vocational training can help them secure careers in challenging markets.
One promising field in terms of vocational training is that of Electrical Vehicles (EV) and (Hybrid Electrical Vehicles (HEV). As the use of EV/HEV rises, the need for skilled technicians to maintain these vehicles becomes a must. This project aims to take advantage of this growth by developing a vocational diploma for this area which will give future technicians the tools they need to find employment in both local and regional markets.
This project will present the best practices in the operation of EV/HEV maintenance shops and adapt them for the modern educational environment for 60 beneficiaries. It will provide them with the skills required to maintain Electric and Hybrid vehicles and training encompassing all aspects of working in vehicle maintenance including safety and professional development. A Virtual Learning Portal will be developed that will include all training materials and case studies for the project’s sustainability. A collaboration Network with Vocational training centers as well EV/HEV maintenance workshops will be established to secure internships and employability opportunities for the HECars graduates.
Moreover, HECars will train students on entrepreneurial skills that will help them in starting their own business.
