Faculty of Engineering at Amman Arab University (AAU) Holds a Specialized Workshop on “Energy Efficiency and Introduction to the International Energy Manager Certification”

In line with the vision and mission of Amman Arab University to strengthen practical and applied learning, and as part of its efforts to host experts in the field of renewable energy, the Faculty of Engineering organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled “Energy Efficiency and Introduction to the International Energy Manager Certification.”

The workshop was held in implementation of the directives of Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Wedian, President of the University, under the supervision of Dr. Anwar Al-Assaf, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and with the follow-up of Dr. Akram Mousa, Head of the Renewable Energy Engineering Department and Academic Supervisor of the Student Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) at Amman Arab University.

The workshop was organized by the Renewable Energy Engineering Department in cooperation with the student chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) at the University, and was attended by Dr. Ayman Agha, a faculty member, in addition to students of the Renewable Energy Engineering Department and members of the AEE student chapter.

The workshop was delivered by Eng. Anas Abdullah, an energy expert and consultant, and an accredited trainer for the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) credential. During the workshop, he addressed key concepts of energy efficiency and its pivotal role in reducing energy consumption and improving system performance in industrial and commercial sectors. He also highlighted the importance of implementing energy conservation strategies through accurate load analysis, optimization of lighting and air-conditioning systems, and monitoring consumption using advanced measurement tools.

Eng. Abdullah further introduced the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification, one of the most prominent internationally recognized credentials in the field of energy management. He explained that the certification equips its holders with advanced capabilities to analyze energy consumption and develop effective improvement plans based on internationally recognized scientific methodologies. The workshop concluded with an overview of the requirements for obtaining the certification, the professional fields available to its holders, and its significance for engineers seeking professional specialization in the energy sector.

In this context, Dr. Akram Mousa emphasized the importance of such scientific activities for their substantial knowledge value in raising students’ awareness and enhancing their skills, particularly in dialogue, discussion, and preparation mechanisms for obtaining the Energy Manager certification. The lecture also featured fruitful interactive discussion sessions between the speaker and students, during which perspectives and inquiries were exchanged regarding the future of energy efficiency and the associated career opportunities. This interaction reinforced the workshop’s role as a high-quality platform for enriching knowledge and developing students’ practical expertise.
