Department of Architecture at “Amman Arab University” (AAU) Organizes a Creative Workshop on Clay Modeling
As part of enhancing the practical and creative aspects of the educational process, and in implementation of the directives of Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Wedian, President of Amman Arab University, and under the follow-up of Dr. Anwar Al-Assaf, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, the Architek Team at the Department of Architecture organized its first workshop on clay modeling art. The workshop was delivered by student Lana Abu Zaid, from the Department of Architecture and a certified clay modeling trainer, with the aim of enabling students to explore architectural concepts in a hands-on manner through clay modeling, and to enhance their understanding of massing, spatial relationships, and form in an interactive and creative way.
During the workshop, Lana Abu Zaid, with the participation of 30 male and female students from various university disciplines, presented the fundamental principles and techniques of clay modeling, in addition to providing practical training that contributed to developing students’ skills and refining their creative abilities. The workshop witnessed notable interaction, reflecting students’ strong interest in such high-quality and innovative activities.
In this context, Dr. Al-Assaf stated that there are plans to expand the scope of this workshop in the future to be held at the university level, with the participation of a larger number of students from various related disciplines, aiming to broaden its impact and promote a culture of creativity and artistic modeling within the university community. He added that such initiatives contribute to bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, and to developing students’ creative and design thinking skills, in line with the university’s orientation toward modern higher education methods, preparing students for the labor market, and enhancing their ability to express architectural ideas and innovate within a stimulating and interactive learning environment.
These training workshops come within the framework of Amman Arab University’s commitment to supporting purposeful extracurricular activities and providing a motivating educational environment that contributes to developing students’ creative and practical skills and refining their talents across various fields. This, in turn, strengthens the integration of academic and applied aspects and keeps pace with the requirements of creativity and innovation in higher education.
