"Amman Arab University is Ranked Seventh Locally and among the First 500 Universities Globally in Green Metric Classification

Amman Arab University has achieved remarkable progress in the Green Metric 2023 global rankings, as it ranked seventh locally and 501st globally, advancing 109 places over last year despite the inclusion of 135 new universities. On the Arab level, the University achieved 51st rank among all Arab universities.

President of the University, Professor. Mohamad Al-Widyan, highlighted the importance of the University’s great role in achieving all classification criteria, including sustainable development. Amman Arab University is the headquarters of the Council for Sustainable Development at the level of the Arab world, in addition to the University’s membership in the regional network for social responsibility. Prof. Al-Widyan praised the University’s ranking in achieving advanced ranking and appreciated the exerted efforts of all University employees and the Accreditation and Classification Department and the National Framework for following up, developing and fulfilling improvement plans.

It is noteworthy that Amman Arab University is currently working to increase green spaces, develop infrastructure, pay attention to the environment, provide clean energy, and stimulate faculty members and students to engage more in achieving sustainable development, whether in the educational or research aspect, and to enhance the activities, agreements, projects, and partnerships for sustainable purposes. It is noteworthy that the Green Metric classification is concerned with green universities and the sustainable environment, which consists of six main standards: infrastructure, energy and climate change, solid and liquid waste treatment, water sources, transportation, education and research. Each standard includes a set of detailed indicators.
