Amman Arab University -The first among Jordanian State and Private Universities to Sign a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Development and Employment Fund

Amman - President of Amman Arab University, Professor. Mohamad Al-Widyan, received in his office Mr. Mansour Al-Wreikat, Director General of the Development and Employment Fund, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Professor. Ismail Yamin, Assistant of the President for Academic Affairs, and Professor Dr. Khaled Bani Hamdan, Dean of Student Affairs,Dr. Muhammad Nassar, Director of the Marketing Department, Dr. Malik Al-Sarhan, the follow-up and coordination officer, and Dr. Ziad Al-Matarneh, a faculty member in the College of Business, to sign a memorandum of cooperation and understanding between the two parties in their endeavor to develop development fields and consolidate the culture of self-employment, leadership and innovation in establishing priority projects and developing frameworks for joint cooperation in scientific research and improving the academic level of human resources.

On this occasion, Professor. Mohamad Al-Widyan indicated that this memorandum will enable the employees of the Development and Employment Fund and their children to obtain an incentive discount on tuition fees for the bachelor’s and master’s programs offered by the University. He stated that Amman Arab University is working to open several local, regional and international cooperation channels to disseminate and enable the concept of Entrepreneurship by producing creative, pioneering scientific research that serves society and contributes to achieving sustainable development through the Center for Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University.

Prof. Al-Widyan expressed his hope that this memorandum would contribute to providing academic support, disseminating and educating students about the concept of entrepreneurship, contributing to their educational and cultural growth to serve the development process in the kingdom, and ensuring their involvement in the concept of entrepreneurship, especially among young people. He indicated that this memorandum is the beginning of cooperation between the University and the Fund in addition to Small and medium business constitute the largest part of the economies of many countries in the world.

During the meeting, Al-Wreikat praised the great role played by Amman Arab University in enhancing the quality of education and providing an environment that develops the student’s thinking to be an active and creative element that benefits society. He also appreciated the University’s role in its endeavor to cope with the outcomes of education with the labor market, and strengthen the concept of innovation and leadership among Jordanian youth.

On the sidelines of the signing of the memorandum, Al-Wreikat stated that reducing the problems of poverty and unemployment is a national effort in which all governmental and private institutions participate, noting that the Development and Employment Fund has allocated an amount estimated at approximately J.D. (3.5) million to finance tuition fees for university students within the strategic plan of the Development and Employment Fund for the years (2022-2026), out of the Fund’s belief in the role of youth, especially university alumni, in work and production in light of the limited jobs in the public and private sectors in all governorates, and translating them into productive projects, which would provide job opportunities for them, in addition to financing the necessary needs for projects, including equipment, supplies, equipment, infrastructure, and working capital, and enhancing and raising the levels of qualification and empowerment, and enhancing the participation of public and private universities in reducing poverty and unemployment, the Fund is fully prepared to receive applications through (12) branches and three financing parts in (Al Badia). Northern, Central and Southern).

It is noteworthy that this memorandum is the first memorandum of understanding between the Development and Employment Fund and a Jordanian university, making Amman Arab University the first Jordanian university to be signed with it.
