Amman Arab University Qualifies its Medical Staff in the College of Pharmacy for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Under the directives of the President of the Amman Arab University, Prof. Mohamad Al-Widyan, to hold training courses that would activate the University's role in serving the local community and developing the students' skills in the health and medical fields, and within the framework of its efforts to strengthen the college's role towards social responsibility, safety, and health rehabilitation in the community, the health training center was held In the College of Pharmacy at the Amman Arab University and in collaboration with the “Zaora Amal” Academy and the Training and Consulting Center at the University, the first training course on basic life support and cardiorespiratory resuscitation (BLS) where the course witnessed the participation of all the college's medical certificate holders.
The aim of the course was to provide participants with the necessary skills of immediate first aid in health emergencies efficiently and professionally, as these skills are considered crucial to saving the lives of people who may be exposed to risks that may threaten their lives if the correct first aid is not provided as soon as possible. The course covered the main basics of providing assistance and methods of cardiopulmonary resuscitation for adults, children and infants, with the need to maintain the safety of the paramedics in the first place, and also included practical training sessions on the Mankin for each participant individually, where the performance of each participant is monitored and evaluated theoretically through the theoretical exam presented by the institute and practically through the practical exam contract. It should be noted that the course gives the participants a global certificate certified by the American Health and Safety Institute (HSI), and qualifies them to provide first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation for two years.
In this regard, Prof. Rana Abu Hawij, Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University, pointed out that offering this course at the University is a pioneering step by the University and the Faculty of Pharmacy to protect the members of the University and the surrounding community and improve their health, and it also enhances the chances of survival and contributes to reducing the number of deaths caused about health emergencies in society, and raising the graduates' confidence and self-esteem to effectively provide resuscitation methods.
Prof. Abu Hawij added that this step was carried out in implementation of the recommendations of the Jordanian Nursing Council headed by Her Royal Highness Princess Mona Al Hussein, which included cardiopulmonary resuscitation courses as a Compulsory requirement for graduating from the university for students of the health and medical colleges.
