A Dialogue Symposium at Amman Arab University entitled: “Gaza War... Dimensions and Implications”
Under the patronage of the President of Amman Arab University, Professor. Mohamad Al-Widyan, College of Arts and Sciences, in cooperation with the Deanship of Student Affairs, organized a dialogue symposium entitled: “The Gaza War... Dimensions and Implications,” with the participation of His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Al-Momani, Member of the Senate, and Professor Oraib Al-Rantawi, Director of the Jerusalem Center. At the beginning of the symposium, Prof. Al-Widyan welcomed the University’s guests, and during his opening speech he pointed to the Jordanian role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein, may God protect him, the Jordanian government and the Jordanian people’s endless support for the Palestinian cause in general, and for our people in steadfast Gaza in particular at all levels. At the beginning of the conversation, he referred to what Amman Arab University is working on to support our people in Gaza and Palestine. During the dialogue, His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Al-Momani spoke about the historical dimensions of the Palestinian issue and the Arab-Israeli conflict for decades. He also addressed the current international positions regarding the ongoing war against Gaza, especially the internal American position. He pointed out that recent public opinion polls conducted in the United States of America indicated that more than 52% of American youth under the age of 35 are in solidarity today with the Palestinian people. Al-Momani believes that the percentage of youth in solidarity with the Palestinian people in the Gaza war is now an indicator. On the change in American opinion trends towards Israel and the extent to which this may affect the upcoming presidential elections for the US presidential candidates.
Momani also addressed the official and popular Jordanian position in solidarity with the Palestinian people and providing all forms of support to the Palestinian brothers, based on the historical relationship that brings together the two peoples and the pivotal role of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Jassin in all international forums to defend the rights of the Palestinian people and their just causes and mobilize Western public opinion to stop... In turn, Professor Oraib Al-Rantawi said that the recent Gaza War and Operation Al-Aqsa Flood constituted an important turning point in the Arab-Israeli relationship and changed many of the old images about Israel, such as the invincible army and the strong state. Al-Rantawi also pointed out that the Gaza War carries many connotations, including that what Israel wants from that war is Rearranging the Palestinian internal home in a way that serves its interests and eliminating the Palestinian identity, and pointed out that the continued threat of displacement of the Palestinian people as a new, old Israeli policy has become a reality by forcing the residents of Gaza to leave their homes and move from north to south, and the possibility of implementing this displacement under different forms after Gaza and moving to the displacement of Palestinians from the West Bank to Jordan as well, considering that the Zionist enemy does not trust or respect international treaties and agreements.
At the end of the symposium, His Excellency Dr. Al-Momani and Professor Al-Rantawi answered questions from the audience, including members of the teaching and administrative staff and students at the university.
