Pharmacy at AAU Organizes a Field Visit to Aurum Biotechnology Research Lab

In a move aimed at enhancing the practical side of education and linking academic courses with the requirements of the labor market and modern scientific research, Faculty of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University (AAU) organized a field visit for students of the "Gene Therapy" course to the Aurum Biotechnology research lab. The visit was supervised by Dr. Nuseibah Al-Qtaish, a faculty member at the college.

The visit aimed to provide students with the opportunity to apply advanced techniques they studied in the course, including Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Gel Electrophoresis. These techniques are considered fundamental pillars in research experiments within the fields of gene therapy and biotechnology. During the visit, an integrated explanation of the experiment was provided from both theoretical and practical perspectives, highlighting the real-world applications of these technologies in scientific research and the modern medical field.

The program offered students a unique experience to directly observe the research and industrial work environment. It also introduced them to specialized training courses and practical internship opportunities available after graduation, providing them with valuable hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of research career requirements in this field.

In this regard, Prof. Rana Abu Huwaij, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at AAU, praised the visit, emphasizing that such activities contribute to expanding students' professional horizons and enhancing their practical and research skills. She noted that these initiatives support a culture of innovation and scientific research, which positively reflects on the quality of education and prepares students to meet labor market challenges in modern pharmacy and biotechnology.

For her part, Dr. Al-Qtaish indicated that these applied visits significantly contribute to reinforcing students' understanding of theoretical content by linking it to practical application. She added that such experiences develop research skills and qualify students for active participation in future research projects and the competitive job market.
