Renewable Energy Engineering at “Amman Arab University” (AAU) Holds a Specialized Workshop on Operation and Maintenance of Photovoltaic Systems
As part of the vision and mission of the Faculty of Engineering at Amman Arab University to enhance practical and applied learning and to host experts in the field of renewable energy—and under the supervision of Dr. Anwar Al-Assaf, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Akram Mousa, Head of the Renewable Energy Engineering Department and academic supervisor of the AEE Student Chapter—the Renewable Energy Engineering Department and the student chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) at Amman Arab University organized a specialized scientific workshop titled “Operation and Maintenance of Photovoltaic Systems.”
The workshop was delivered by Eng. Lana Daraz, Partnership Development Specialist at Al-Hussein Technical University (HTU) and an expert in solar energy. During the session, Eng. Daraz addressed the core aspects of operation and maintenance (O&M) processes for photovoltaic systems, starting with performance assessment methodologies and operational data analysis, moving on to periodic preventive maintenance procedures, and concluding with the latest techniques used for fault diagnosis and troubleshooting to ensure continuous system productivity. She also highlighted long-term efficiency and safety standards, in addition to global best practices for maintaining system readiness and achieving the highest levels of reliability and sustainability.
In this context, Dr. Akram Mousa, in the presence of Dr. Ayman Agha, a faculty member at the college, emphasized that this workshop responds to students’ needs and enhances their practical competencies, especially given the active participation of students from the Renewable Energy Engineering Department and the AEE student chapter. Their engagement enriched the discussions and added a productive academic dimension to the session. He confirmed that the workshop allowed participants to gain firsthand insight into the practical challenges of managing and maintaining renewable energy systems, thereby fostering technical excellence and reinforcing the principles of sustainability and innovation in building a more efficient and greener energy future.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Dr. Anwar Al-Assaf, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Akram Mousa, Head of the Renewable Energy Engineering Department, honored Eng. Lana Daraz in appreciation of her efforts and valuable presentation, which contributed to enhancing students’ knowledge and practical skills. The AEE student chapter also expressed its deep gratitude to Eng. Daraz for her distinguished contribution, and to all attendees whose interaction played a key role in the success of this notable event and in promoting an engaging scientific environment within the university.
