Under the patronage of His Excellency Eng. Sami Smeirat, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, the Collage of Information Technology at Amman Arab University participated in the launch of the 2025 National Digital Skills Gap Study in the ICT sector. The event, held in Amman was attended by a distinguished group of university presidents, deans of information technology collages, representatives from the public and private sectors, and experts in digital skills development.

Amman Arab University was represented at the event by Dr. Rami Sihwail, Dean of the Collage of Information Technology, and Dr. Kamal Alieyan, Assistant Dean of the Collage. This participation reflects the university's commitment to strengthening its academic presence and engaging with national initiatives aimed at developing digital skills and aligning educational outcomes with labor market demands.

The study, titled “Analysis of the Supply and Demand Gap for Digital Skills in Jordan’s ICT Sector,” examined the current state of the digital skills ecosystem and labor market needs. The results demonstrated the strength of Jordan’s digital skills ecosystem, with 12,000 ICT graduates expected in 2024/2025. This reinforces the Kingdom’s position as one of the leading countries in the region in providing qualified talent for this sector and enhances its growing competitiveness in the digital economy. The study also highlights that the ICT workforce in Jordan reached 47,840 employees in 2025, with women constituting 33% of the total workforce. However, their representation in leadership positions did not exceed 4%. Participants emphasized the importance of the study as a national reference supporting decision-makers in developing digital skills development programs and empowering youth. On this occasion, Dr. Sihwail affirmed that Amman Arab University, in line with the national study, would coordinate with private sector companies and institutions to implement field-training programs for its students. This will link graduation projects to labor market needs and the requirements of companies operating in the information and communications technology sector, thus enhancing the practical aspect and providing students with direct practical experience. He also noted Amman Arab University's efforts to capitalize on additional training opportunities offered by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, encouraging students to enroll in these programs. Furthermore, the university will motivate students to obtain the professional certifications recommended by the study, which are recognized in the labor market. This will contribute to raising their competitiveness and enhancing their employment prospects after graduation.

It is worth noting that Amman Arab University's participation in this national event stems from its commitment to developing its academic programs to meet the demands of the digital economy and strengthening partnerships with the public and private sectors. This contributes to preparing students with modern digital skills capable of competing in the local and regional labor market.
