Information Technology at Amman Arab University (AAU) Participates in the IEEE VIS 2025 International Scientific Conference in Austria

As part of Amman Arab University's ongoing pursuit of leadership and excellence in applied scientific and technological research, and in line with its strategy to enhance its international academic presence and knowledge exchange with global experts and institutions, the Faculty of Information Technology at Amman Arab University participated in the 36th IEEE VIS 2025 International Scientific Conference on Visual Data and its Analysis, held in Vienna, Austria. Dr. Ala Abuthawabeh, a faculty member in the Software Engineering Department, represented the university.

Dr. Ala Abuthawabeh participated in an international research collaboration with Dr. Michael Aupetit from Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar. They presented an applied research paper and a demonstration showcasing the latest developments in the InViTAG interactive graphical web application. This application aims to enable researchers to explore and analyze image-related data, including health data and data from various applied and research fields such as industry, education, and gaming, employing artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms in the analysis and exploration processes.

The annual IEEE VIS 2025 International Conference is one of the world's leading conferences in the field of Data Visualization, both in terms of the number of research citations and the paper acceptance rate, which does not exceed 25%. Professor Hans-Christian Hege, Scientific Advisor and expert from the Zuse-Institute Berlin (ZIB), delivered the keynote talk, titled "The Science of Visual Insight: Transforming Data Visualization into a Rigorous Discipline." The conference was attended by over a thousand participants, including leading researchers from prestigious international universities, as well as representatives from major global companies in the IT, healthcare, and industrial sectors.

In this regard, Dr. Abuthawabeh pointed out that the conference provided a distinguished scientific opportunity to meet with leading experts in the field, including Professor Hans Hagen, and to exchange scientific experiences and present the latest research and ideas in the areas of visual data and its analysis, human-computer interaction, computer graphics, virtual reality, simulation, and their applications in various sectors such as architecture, heritage, natural and human sciences, and the arts. He explained that the conference included a number of sessions and scientific tracks during which theoretical research papers and specialized technical and applied works were presented, with a clear focus on employing the latest artificial intelligence technologies in various industrial and scientific sectors.

The conference concluded with practical sessions and presentations of specialized case studies that focused on the most prominent real-world challenges facing various sectors and the future research opportunities they offer that can be leveraged through the application of visual data and artificial intelligence technologies. The conference is scheduled to be held in Boston at IEEE VIS 2026.

On this occasion, Dr. Rami Sahwil, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology at Amman Arab University, emphasized the importance of faculty members' participation in international scientific conferences. He noted their pivotal role in fostering scientific and cultural exchange with international universities and research institutions, and in transferring modern expertise and knowledge to the local academic environment. This, in turn, positively impacts the development of curricula, enhances the quality of scientific research, strengthens students' skills, and aligns higher education outcomes with labor market demands.

This participation underscores Amman Arab University's commitment to continuous development and improvement, promoting applied knowledge exchange, and staying abreast of the latest scientific and technological advancements at both the local and international levels. This, in turn, benefits faculty members and students and contributes to the sustainable development of the local community.
