
Faculty of Pharmacy at "Amman Arab University" (AAU) Participates in the First Youth Pharmacy Forum in Jordan
Demonstrating Amman Arab University's commitment to academic excellence and enhancing its pioneering role in pharmaceutical education and practice, the Faculty of Pharmacy actively participated in the "First Specialized Youth Pharmacy Forum in Jordan." Held from October 2nd to 4th under the patronage of the Regional Office of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (EMROpharm-FIP), in cooperation with the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and the Jordan Pharmacists Association, the forum brought together over 300 participants, including students, academic experts, professionals, and decision-makers from within Jordan and abroad. It served as a leading platform for exchanging expertise and insights on the future of the pharmacy profession and the role of youth in its development at the national and regional levels.
Professor Dr. Rana Abu Huwaij, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, represented Amman Arab University on the first day of the forum by participating in a panel discussion titled "From Education to Pharmaceutical Practice." She addressed the role of universities in preparing pharmacists for the future amidst workforce transformation. Dr. Abu Huwaij emphasized the importance of updating academic curricula to align with modern labor market demands, enhancing student skills in advanced technical fields, and shifting towards advanced pharmaceutical care. This ensures their readiness as competent professionals and innovators in areas such as digital pharmacy, artificial intelligence, green pharmacy, drug management, pharmacovigilance, and regulatory affairs. She also stressed the necessity of integrated efforts among healthcare sectors to secure suitable job opportunities for graduates and to build national policies and strategies that ensure the continuity and quality of pharmaceutical services.
A group of students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University also participated in the forum. The students, namely: Barā' Joudah, Aya Shbeitat, Ziyad Al-Khawaldeh, Layan Al-Salamat, Raneen Jbai'ati, Maria Burhan, and Nours Al-Ani, represented the University with a spirit of responsibility and creativity in the youth sessions. They participated in organizing and managing the forum's events, providing them with a distinguished practical experience in managing specialized conferences at the national and regional levels.
The forum also saw the participation of Faculty of Pharmacy graduates: Pharmacist Islam Al-Dawoud, Pharmacist Farah Al-Dawoud, and Pharmacist Zeina Hujair, who expressed their deep pride in representing Amman Arab University. They confirmed the added value they gained through direct interaction with experts and decision-makers in the pharmaceutical sector.
The participating students expressed their great benefit from this experience, which contributed to enhancing their communication skills, developing a spirit of leadership and teamwork, and building a wide professional network. They also gained exposure to the latest developments in digital pharmacy, biologics, and sustainable pharmaceutical policies.
This qualitative participation confirms that the Faculty of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University is steadfastly progressing towards achieving its vision of graduating leading and innovative pharmacists who possess advanced scientific thinking and the ability to contribute effectively to the development of the healthcare sector locally and regionally. This step also reflects the University's commitment to enhancing its presence in international scientific forums and solidifying its status as a renewed academic environment that combines scientific excellence, community participation, and leadership in serving the pharmacy profession.
