
Faculty of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University (AAU) Hosts Specialized Scientific Workshop on the "Role of the Clinical Pharmacist"
As part of Amman Arab University’s commitment to enriching students’ knowledge, preparing them to keep pace with modern developments in pharmaceutical practice, and strengthening the link between scientific knowledge and practical application, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University hosted Dr. Alaa Badr, a clinical pharmacist from the Department of Pharmacy at the Specialty Hospital, to deliver a specialized scientific workshop entitled: “The Clinical Pharmacist as the Core of Pharmaceutical Care: Implications for Pharmaceutical Education and Training.”
The workshop was held within the Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics (1) course, under the supervision of Dr. Lubna Gharaibeh, Vice Dean and faculty member at the Faculty of Pharmacy.
The workshop included a review of a number of clinical case studies through which the pivotal role of the clinical pharmacist was highlighted in identifying drug-related problems, improving the quality of healthcare, and contributing effectively to therapeutic decision-making within the medical team. This role enhances patient safety and improves treatment outcomes. The workshop also shed light on the direct impact of the clinical pharmacist’s role in developing pharmaceutical education and training systems by emphasizing the importance of integrating case-based learning, developing clinical thinking skills, professional communication, and evidence-based decision-making, thereby contributing to the preparation of graduates qualified to meet the requirements of modern pharmaceutical practice.
The workshop witnessed notable attendance and interaction from students and faculty members of the Faculty of Pharmacy, who showed strong engagement with the presented scientific content. The constructive scientific discussions enriched the educational experience and enhanced awareness of the importance of developing pharmaceutical curricula and training programs in line with the rapid advancements in the healthcare sector.
In this context, Professor Dr. Rana Abu Huweij, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University, emphasized the importance of organizing such specialized scientific workshops due to their pivotal role in enhancing students’ practical skills and linking theoretical concepts with real clinical practice, noting that the clinical pharmacist is a fundamental pillar of the modern healthcare system.
