Department of Architecture Engineering at Amman Arab University (AAU) Conducts a Field Visit to a Tourist Resort Project Site at the Dead Sea

In line with the vision and mission of Amman Arab University, and as part of its commitment to strengthening the integration between theoretical knowledge and practical application, the Department of Architecture Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering organized a field visit for third-year students to the site of the proposed design project in the Zara area of the Dead Sea. The visit was conducted as part of the requirements of the Design (4) course.

The visit was supervised by Prof. Dr. Anwar Al-Assaf, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, along with Dr. Reham Al-Aasmar, Dr. Kamal Haddad, Eng. Ola Habash, and Eng. Farah Rummaneh, members of the academic staff at the faculty. Dr. Mousa Al-Qaaida, a faculty member from the Faculty of Law, also participated in the visit, reflecting the university’s emphasis on interdisciplinary academic integration.

The visit aimed to enable students to conduct a comprehensive study of the project site, analyze its natural and urban characteristics, and examine the surrounding environmental influences. This process contributes to developing a well-informed architectural vision that responds to the site’s uniqueness and contextual characteristics. These studies will later be translated into integrated design proposals, which are scheduled to be presented by the end of April.

A total of 15 third-year female students participated in the visit. The field tour included a visit to an existing tourism project in the area, where students explored the project’s components and facilities, spatial layouts, construction methods, and architectural treatments. This hands-on experience enriched the students’ practical knowledge and enhanced their ability to derive design solutions characterized by strong architectural concepts and high-quality spatial utilization.

This visit is part of a series of field activities organized by the Department of Architecture Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, reaffirming Amman Arab University’s commitment to preparing qualified architects equipped with analytical and design skills, capable of linking academic knowledge with real-world professional requirements, in line with labor market needs and in support of high-quality educational outcomes.
