Amman Arab University's (AAU) Consultancy and Training Center Holds "TOT" Workshop in Cooperation with German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ)
Within the framework of the Psychosocial Support and Trauma Work project run by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), and in cooperation with the Jordanian Ministry of Health, the Consultancy and Training Center at Amman Arab University has conducted a training workshop titled "Training of Trainers (TOT) for Healthcare Providers on Psychosocial Support for Children and Adolescents."
The workshop aimed to enhance the capabilities of health personnel in providing psychosocial support to the target age groups, thereby contributing to improving the quality of healthcare services delivered to children and adolescents in Jordan.
This training is part of the project's sustainability plan, implemented in collaboration with the Jordanian Ministry of Health, with the goal of strengthening the integration of mental health and psychosocial support services into the healthcare system.
The workshop focused on empowering health staff and equipping them with the necessary skills to provide psychosocial support and psychological first aid, address trauma in children and adolescents, and enhance early detection, referral, and case management mechanisms. This ensures an improvement in the quality of school health services and a comprehensive response to the psychological and social needs of students.
This training responds to the growing need, post-COVID-19 pandemic, to focus on the mental and behavioral health of children and adolescents, making early detection, awareness, and psychosocial support a priority. It also enables the Ministry of Health to develop sustainable training programs for integrating psychosocial support within public healthcare services, reinforcing the concept of comprehensive school health.
Holding such workshops is part of fulfilling the role of Amman Arab University and its Consultancy and Training Center in networking with various local community institutions to achieve sustainable development goals.
