Amman Arab University (AAU) Signs Cooperation Agreement with Al-Rashid Hospital Center to Train Pharmacy Students
In alignment with Amman Arab University's efforts to expand cooperation with national healthcare institutions, the university signed a cooperation agreement with Al-Rashid Hospital Center. The agreement aims to train and qualify Faculty of Pharmacy students in an advanced practical environment that addresses psychological and pharmaceutical aspects while keeping pace with the latest developments in healthcare. The agreement was signed by University President Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Widyan and Mr. Rifaat Al-Masri, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Manager of Al-Rashid Hospital Center, witnessed by Professor Dr. Rana Abu Huwaij, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Dr. May Al-Hawamdeh, Head of the Faculty’s Training Committee; and Mr. Anas Kassou, Assistant Director of the Media and Public Relations Department.
This agreement reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to enhancing students’ practical and applied skills through substantive partnerships with specialized medical institutions. It provides high-quality field training opportunities enabling direct interaction with healthcare experts. The collaboration seeks to refine students’ skills, advance their professional competencies, and expand their knowledge of modern medical practices—particularly in mental healthcare, clinical pharmacy, and pharmacovigilance—ensuring their optimal readiness for the evolving job market.
During the signing ceremony, Professor Dr. Al-Widyan emphasized the significance of partnering with Al-Rashid Hospital Center, a prestigious institution with extensive expertise in mental health and addiction treatment. He noted this aligns with the university’s strategy to integrate academic theory with practical application through specialized partnerships. He further highlighted that the Faculty of Pharmacy recently earned international accreditation from the U.S. Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), becoming the first young faculty among private universities to achieve this milestone a testament to the university’s commitment to global quality standards and developing regionally competitive pharmacists.
Mr. Al-Masri expressed pride in partnering with Amman Arab University, stating this marks the beginning of productive collaboration in pharmaceutical training and education. He emphasized the agreement will prepare students to address mental health and pharmaceutical challenges within advanced clinical settings. Established in 1996, Al-Rashid Hospital is the MENA region’s leading private institution in psychiatry and addiction treatment, accredited by the Jordanian Arab Board for Psychiatry to train university and postgraduate students in psychiatry, psychiatric nursing, and occupational therapy.
Dr. Abu Huwaij described the agreement as a strategic step in developing the faculty’s training programs, particularly in specialized fields like mental and pharmaceutical care. She stressed that training at Al-Rashid Hospital enables hands-on clinical experience and professional growth. She also noted the faculty recently launched a Master’s program in Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affairs—addressing regional demand for specialists in this scarce field. The program delivers advanced education focusing on legal and scientific aspects of pharmaceuticals, aiming to qualify experts who enhance drug safety and public health through secure, effective treatments. The faculty continues refining its academic and training programs to meet local/international accreditation standards, advancing the university’s mission of excellence.
The agreement stipulates practical training opportunities for pharmacy students at Al-Rashid Hospital under joint academic-medical supervision, alongside collaborative workshops to develop skills in mental health, clinical pharmacy, and pharmacovigilance.
