Amman Arab University Organizes AAU-CTF 2024 Competition and Honors Cybersecurity Heroes

College of Computer Sciences and Informatics at Amman Arab University held the annual Cybersecurity Competition AAU-CTF 2024 in its second edition, which aims to enhance the skills of students majoring in cybersecurity and hone their expertise in the field of digital security, keeping pace with the rapid developments in this field. This year, the competition witnessed participation a large number of cybersecurity students from various levels competed, with teams of 3-5 students each competing by solving a set of challenges specifically designed to test their skills and intelligence in various fields such as: digital forensics, cryptography, smart searches, reverse engineering, challenges. MISC variety.

In turn, Dr. Husam Al-Hamad, Dean of the College of Computer Sciences and Informatics at Amman Arab University, praised the competition and its distinguished organization, stressing its importance in enhancing students’ skills, refining their expertise in the field of cybersecurity, and preparing them for the labor market. He pointed out that participation in the competition is an achievement in itself, as it requires skills. And high experiences.

Dr. Manar Mazhar, Head of the Information Technology Department at the college, stated that the Cybersecurity specialty at Amman Arab University pays great attention to providing an educational environment rich in practical skills, by offering fully applied courses and activating applied lectures in all of the department’s theoretical courses, and she stressed the department’s tireless endeavors to sign agreements and partnerships with leading local and international institutions in the field of cybersecurity, with the aim of enhancing students’ capabilities and providing them with the latest developments in this field.

وفي ختام المسابقة تم تكريم الفرق الفائزة بالمراكز الثلاثة الأولى، حيث حصد فريقAt the conclusion of the competition, the winning teams in the first three places were honored, with the Mavrick team taking first place, which included the following students:

• Adel Tariq Al-Abdullat

• Adnan Firas Adawi

• Abdullah Abdullah Abu Salim

While the S/A team came in second place, which included the following students:

• Mustafa Ahmed Hujair

• Abdul Rahman Hamid Al-Zubairi

The mmiir team took third place, which included the following students:

• Radwan Adam Ahmed

• Maryam Ibrahim Al-Omari

• Ibrahim Nour al-Din Fares

• Marwa Muhammad Awad

In addition to honoring individual achievers, the awards were not limited to the winning teams, but the two fastest teams in solving the “First Blood” challenge were honored, namely:

• White Lotus team, consisting of students:

o Saif Abdul Muti Al-Tamimi

o Amin Bilal Sanjak

o Osama Muhammad Ismail

• Hack Titans team, consisting of students:

o Sabah Sufyan Qassima

o Shahed Nasser Barakat

o Joud Abdul Karim Al Khalaf

It is noteworthy that the AAU-CTF 2024 competition comes to add to the record of distinguished achievements of Amman Arab University in the field of cybersecurity, and reflects the university’s firm commitment to providing qualitative education that meets the needs of the evolving labor market and qualifies its graduates to compete effectively in various fields.

At the conclusion of the competition, Dr. Manar Mazhar, on behalf of the Information Technology Department, thanked the Administrative Committee and the Competition Organizing Committee for their great efforts in making this distinguished event a success. She also thanked all the participating students for their enthusiasm and interaction, stressing that this competition represents a wonderful opportunity to gain practical experience and skills. In the field of cybersecurity, she stressed that the AAU-CTF 2024 competition once again demonstrated the ability of Amman Arab University students to excel and be creative in the field of cybersecurity, which confirms the quality of education provided at the university and its keenness to keep pace with rapid developments in various fields.
