"Amman Arab University" Hosts a Workshop on "Location of Engineering Program Qualification in the National Qualifications Framework"

On Monday, June 12, 2023, Amman Arab University hosted a workshop on "Location of Engineering Program Qualification in the National Qualifications Framework" organized by the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions under the auspices of the University President, Prof. Mohamad Al-Widyan, and in the presence of Dr. Zaid Al-Anbar, Vice President of the Commission. At the beginning of the workshop, Dr. Hussam Al-Hamad, Assistant to the University President for Planning and Quality Assurance, welcomed the participating deans and quality assurance and accreditation officials in Jordanian public and private universities, stressing the importance of holding such workshops to exchange experiences between universities and establish cooperation mechanisms among them in order to develop academic programs and improve learning outcomes.

In his speech at the workshop, Dr. Zaid Al-Anbar, gave a speech during the opening of the workshop, in which he said that the Commission has begun to include higher education institutions and find out qualifications for pharmacy and nursing programs, and indicated that the system allows for a common quality guarantee for all qualifications and the development of standards based on to learning outcomes to develop educational programs that lead to qualifications, providing capacity to develop, evaluate and improve the quality of education.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Khaled Gharaibeh referred to the types of national qualifications that can be placed in the national framework and the impact of this on increasing the chances of graduates in the labor market. He added that the national qualifications framework consists of 10 levels with distinct learning majors that represent educational stages, types of degrees or levels of experience, from preschool to PhD level.

During the workshop, Engineer Muhammad Khair Irshaid spoke about the flow map for the provision of professional qualifications. Prof. Musa Habib added, during his talk, about designing the academic and scientific skills matrix in the field of engineering. Prof. Laila Akhu Zahia presented the experience of the University of Science and Technology in placing the nursing qualification within the national framework.

The workshop concluded with a valuable discussion between the attendees and the lecturers in a distinguished interactive environment, thanking the Accreditation Commission for its efforts and support to higher education institutions at all levels, and the Amman Arab University for its hospitality.
