
"Amman Arab University’s Faculty of Engineering Organizes Third Engineering Science Day 2025 to Enhance Academia - Industry Partnership"
Under the patronage of Engineer Abdullah Ghosheh, President of the Jordan Engineers Association, the Faculty of Engineering at Amman Arab University organized the Third Engineering Science Day 2025. The event aimed to enhance communication between students, faculty members, and experts from the public and private sectors, highlight the latest innovations and trends in various engineering fields, and showcase applied projects and research completed by students.
Attendees included Engineer Ahmed Al-Falahat, Vice President of the Jordan Engineers Association; Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Widyan, President of Amman Arab University; Dr. Anwar Al-Assaf, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Professor Dr. Ismail Yamin, Assistant President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Husam Al-Hamad, Assistant President for Planning and Quality Assurance; Ms. Nadia Al-Qodaimat, Assistant President for Financial and Administrative Affairs; and Engineer Emad Al-Dabas, Head of the Architectural Branch at the Engineers Association. The event also saw participation from a select group of engineers, academics, and industry leaders.
In this context, Engineer Al-Falahat emphasized the importance of such scientific gatherings in bridging academia with practical reality and enhancing students' capabilities and skills to meet labor market demands. He highlighted the Engineers Association's role in supporting and qualifying engineering cadres through specialized training programs and local and international cooperation agreements, alongside its commitment to updating and developing professional practices to ensure the competitiveness of Jordanian engineers locally and regionally. He noted that the Association has undertaken the development of engineering capabilities and the scientific and professional qualification of Jordanian cadres, as the regulatory body for the profession and the primary umbrella for the engineering sector in Jordan. He pointed out that the Jordan Engineers Association, through its Engineers Academy for Development and Training, has trained nearly 140,000 engineers to date, offering over 8,000 training courses in various engineering, IT, and management fields. He also reviewed the Association's efforts in building partnerships with international institutions and professional bodies and working on issuing the Professional Qualification and Accreditation System, recently approved by the Council of Ministers, which aims to enhance engineers' efficiency, increase their competitiveness locally and regionally, and facilitate the mobility of Jordanian engineering competencies in Arab and international markets.
For his part, Dr. Al-Assaf explained that organizing the Faculty of Engineering's third Science Day coincides with the Kingdom's celebrations of its 79th Independence Day, reflecting Amman Arab University's vital role as a leading academic beacon striving to link theoretical knowledge with practical application. He affirmed that this event represents an important platform to enhance communication between academic and professional circles, spotlight various engineering disciplines, and keep pace with future trends in the sector, ensuring alignment between university outputs and the needs of the local and regional labor market.
Dr. Al-Assaf indicated that the event witnessed wide participation from over 43 prestigious engineering companies, alongside a group of engineers, academics, and industry leaders, lending the event a rich atmosphere of diversity and expertise. The Science Day featured several scientific sessions and specialized lectures presented by faculty members, covering contemporary engineering topics addressing current professional and technical challenges.
The scientific sessions opened with a welcoming address by Engineer Emad Al-Dabbas, who emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between the Association and the academic sector to develop engineers' skills and empower them to face contemporary engineering challenges. This was followed by a speech by Engineer Bushra Al-Sa'aydeh, Director of the Planning and International Cooperation Directorate at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, who underscored the pivotal role of cooperation between universities and the industrial sector in promoting sustainable development and achieving technological innovation. Distinguished academics and engineers participated in the scientific sessions, adding significant knowledge and practical value to the event. Notable participants included: Dr. Farouq Yaghmour, General Manager of Yaghmour Architects Office; Dr. Farah Al-Atrash, Faculty Member at the German Jordanian University; Engineer Mohammad Al-Sukkar, General Manager of Eng. Mohammad Al-Sukkar Office.
Engineer Issam Azzam representing Omniplan Company; Engineer Nivin Al-Sheikh representing Al-Jisr Al-Arabi Company; Engineer Saif Sha'ban representing Al-Madina Al-Khadra Company; Dr. Ammar Al-Sakaji and Engineer Hussein Labzo representing the Jordanian Astronomical Society (JAS); and Dr. Qais Al-Amri representing the Royal Geographic Centre.
The ceremony also featured the opening of a scientific exhibition where several engineering companies, students, and engineers presented the latest innovations and projects. Diverse scientific and recreational activities added an interactive and enriching dimension, fostering communication and experience exchange among attendees. The Science Day also saw outstanding participation from students of the three departments within the Faculty of Engineering at Amman Arab University: Architecture Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Renewable Energy Engineering, who showcased pioneering projects that garnered admiration from participants and visitors.
Participants emphasized the importance of enhancing continuous cooperation between Amman Arab University and the industrial sector, stressing the necessity of aligning educational outcomes with labor market requirements to ensure students are qualified to meet local, regional, and global market needs. Concluding the Engineering Science Day activities, attendees commended the efforts made in organizing the event, affirming the importance of continuing such initiatives that enhance communication and coordination between the university and the labor market, thereby supporting the development of engineering competencies and contributing to the advancement of development.
