Community Awareness and Universities Academic Discipline By: Prof. Dr. Younes Megdadi

After announcing the results of high school every year, it becomes a preoccupation for the families of successful students to ask and inquire about universities and specializations suitable for their children in light of what the labor market needs to ensure the future of their children for fear of falling into the quagmire of poor choice and the inevitable result accompanying this disturbing situation such as unemployment and its consequences as a result of poor awareness among The majority are in the specializations required in the labor market, not to mention their increasing fear for the future of their children from unpleasant surprises, despite the frequent talk about their consequences, which are known to all.

Based on the social and personal relationships, the majority of academics in that period are exposed to a number of clarifying inquiries from relatives and friends about their frank opinion, advice, and preferences, by virtue of their knowledge and experience about majors in universities, but answering these inquiries puts them in critical situations due to weak societal awareness and the blurring of the integrated picture of university study. And their fear of accepting their children in stagnant majors, not to mention the blurry awareness of modern and technical programs, with increasing fear and anxiety about their fate, especially in light of what they hear about through the media, academic circles, and employers locally and globally.

The issue of community awareness has become a frequent topic of discussion for many, especially in light of the high rates of unemployment, the stagnation of a large number of specializations, and the uncertainty of the future of many specializations, which obscures the society and their children with the absence of suitable job opportunities to ensure a future that opens up economic and social horizons for them that fulfill their aspirations and hopes. future. Hence, we find that community awareness of universities is an important link that must be quickly remedied because of its direct relationship to the future of our children, which requires great efforts from everyone to ensure an increase in perceived awareness among the various classes of society to facilitate the process of enrolling their children in universities and choosing appropriate majors for them so that its results serve the interest of all.

If we look closely at the repercussions of the lack of societal awareness of universities and their academic specializations, decades ago, we will find that they have contributed to an increase in the state of societal anxiety related to the study of their children in the various university specializations, especially in light of the increase in the number of university graduates with the scarcity of available job opportunities and the saturation of the labor market, which stopped everyone. Here, we single out high school students and their families, while everyone remains confused and asks the same recurring question: What are the appropriate disciplines for teaching our children?

Specialists believe that the issue of community awareness is a participatory responsibility with all relevant parties related to university education, which requires everyone to search for solutions that relieve society from the anxiety of joining universities and choosing appropriate majors to ensure the future of their children. Accordingly, we believe that improving the level of awareness and dissolving societal anxiety, which requires systematic treatments and solutions, and we suggest, for example, the creation of a media platform specialized in education at all levels to talk about education and its challenges in light of the challenges and trends of the labor market, and intensifying awareness-raising media programs for students starting from the secondary stage with the requirements and challenges of the labor market current and future work, and educating parents to form future directions for studying their children and away from their personal and social orientations and desires, which are often imposed on children in their choice of majors, and a final suspension of acceptance of stagnant and saturated majors for a period of not less than 10 years to come, regardless of its consequences, and focus on developing specializations Modern and linked to the future of the labor market and within controls, with caution against expanding the innovation process for fear of bringing it to the box of stagnant majors in the near future, in order to ensure a high level of societal awareness in universities and their majors, and to clarify the image in a systematic manner and within methods compatible with the educational aspirations of the community and in harmony with the directives and aspirations of the owner His Majesty the Hashemite King Abdullah Ibn Al-Hussein, and his trustworthy Crown Prince, may God protect and preserve them, and their continuous concern for education and university education.
