Cooperation Between Amman Arab University and the UNHCR

Amman Arab University and UNHCR discussed possible collaboration to increase educational opportunities for refugee students in Jordan. Prof. Mohammad Al-Widyan, president of the University, highlighted the university’s unique programs, including aircraft maintenance and Aviation Electronics. In addition, he emphasized the university’s commitment to social responsibility and fostering innovation among students. The university aims to increase support for DAFI scholarship recipients and address the challenges faced by refugee students.

Ms. Zeina Jad’an from UNHCR expressed gratitude for the university’s efforts in providing scholarships and its role in improving academic outcomes. She stressed the importance of strengthening partnerships with higher education institutions in Jordan to achieve the “15by30” initiative, which aims to ensure 15 percent of refugee youth have access to higher education by 2030.

This partnership is expected to benefit both refugees and host communities by improving national education systems and expanding available opportunitie.
