Professor. Mohamad Al-Widyan Participates in an International Conference on Human Security and Sustainable Development
Amman Arab University participated in the work of the tenth scientific and second international conference of the Department of Social Studies entitled (Human Security and Sustainable Development in Iraq and the Arab World - Reality, Challenges, and Ways of Confrontation), which tackled the conceptual and general framework of security, the social and economic field, and the environmental field.
President of the University, Professor. Mohamad Al-Widyan, and Professor. Dhaher Al-Qurashi, a faculty member in the College of Business, attended the conference under the auspices of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Engineer Muhammad Shia’ Al-Sudani, which was held in Baghdad and organized by the Department of Social Studies at Bait Al-Hikma, in cooperation with the International Labor Organization, the Journalists Union, the International University Association, a group of Iraqi and Arab universities and research centers, in the presence of 13 Arab countries, which lasted over two days.
The conference aimed to shed light on human security and sustainable development by empowering all the capabilities required in order to achieve the goals of human security, which is divided into several types such as economic security, national and health security, social and environmental insurance policies, and other policies, and to identify the most important human security threats that are in the interest of the individual and the family in Iraq and society. The conference was attended by a distinguished group of professors and researchers from Iraq, Jordan, Algeria, the Emirates, Yemen, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, the Sultanate of Oman, Tunisia and Morocco.
In this regard, the University President, Professor. Mohammad Al-Widyan, said that the University’s participation in such conferences emerges from its endeavor to be one of the leading universities responsible for implementing sustainable development objectives and the existence of the Arab Council for Sustainable Development, one of the Arab councils emanating from the Association of Arab Universities, which is hosted by Amman Arab University, which was established by a decision of the Executive Council of the (53rd) session of the General Conference held during the period 14-11/2021, aimed to activate the developmental role of Arab higher education institutions and contribute to consolidating the concept of sustainable development and disseminating the culture of moral commitment by assuming responsibility towards society , environment, and human beings man, and to create a conscious generation that undertakes both its social and humanitarian tasks.
