A Scientific Symposium in “Research Publications" for Students of Amman Arab University
Department of English Language and Translation at the College of Arts and Sciences at Amman Arab University, in cooperation with the Consulting and Training Center, organized a scientific symposium entitled "Research Publications", where the participating students presented a set of research papers in front of the audience. The students worked on preparing these research papers with their teachers in the department and under the direct supervision of Mr. Tarek Farghal and the Department of English for a full semester to reach important results that answer the study questions posed by each research paper.
The research papers discussed two main themes: teaching English as a second language and the relationship of the Arabic language and Jordanian culture in language learning through the following research papers:
- Inability to translate car surnames in the Jordanian dialect
- Teaching Arabic for Non-Native Speakers
- Understanding English vocabulary in both Jordanian private and government schools
- Formulas that indicate the future in the Jordanian Arabic dialect.
- The impact of listening skill on the academic performance of English language students at Amman Arab University.
It is noteworthy that the symposium was held under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the Amman Arab University, Dr. Wafa’ Al-Eid, and in the presence of the Head of the English Language and Translation Department, Dr. Yazan Al-Mashad, the Director of the Consulting and Training Center, Dr. May Al-Shaikhli, and members of the teaching staff in the college and a large number of students from the Department of English and Translation and the college in general. At the end of the seminar, the participating students were honored and the dean of the college handed them certificates of thanks in appreciation of their efforts.
