A Workshop about the Linking of the ABET Student Learning Outcomes to the courses’ direct assessments has been held at Amman Arab University
Amman- The committee of international academic accreditation (ABET) at the faculty of computer sciences and informatics has organized a third workshop for faculty members to explain the required steps to link the student learning outcomes (part of the ABET international accreditation) to the direct assessments of the courses. In addition, the issues related into how to write exams in a way that is consistent to ABET accreditation, has been addressed.
The dean of the faculty, departments’ chairmen and faculty members have attended the workshop.
During the workshop, Dr. Hossam Mustafa presents an introduction to the student learning outcomes (SLOs) and its performance indicators (PIs). Furthermore, the workshop, entitled linking the students’ outcomes to the direct assessments of the courses, shows how to distribute the direct assessments of the courses into the students’ outcomes and its performance indicators. Dr. Hossam Mustafa presents several exams’ samples and how to write these exams in way that is consistent to ABET accreditation. Moreover, Dr Hossam presented how to extract the necessary statistics from AAU online examination system, it is to be noted that the college plans to apply for the ABET accreditation in the near future.
